TLT was trading at 117.88 with decent volume in the pre-market, at about 8:30am. The high of the 30min opening range of premarket is right about where the main session high is (118ish), and likewise the low (117.35--40).
TLT as of this posting is at 117.82.
I suspect that the recent ramp-and-camp daily behavior of US longterm Treasuries is due to strong European buying, as the newly-minted monetization by the ECB is being put to work by Eurobanks.
They help push rates down, because they're flush with cash and nauseous at (literally, they track this quite far back) in some cases 300-year lows in government bond rates. With a 1% German bundt staring one in the face a 2.3% 10yr Treasury looks downright appealing.

Rallies like this on no volume indicate retail involvement, which indicates all or most of it will unwind at some point. In addition, sentiment is actually quite elevated in the ISEE put/call which is the first time in over 2 years I can say that.

A new high without volume confirmation is an amateur trap. The lack of volume only becomes interesting at the new high, not the general trend.
I don't think we're at any kind of important top, but I am expecting a large retracement.
UPS currently at a 5day LO, FDX hit a 3day LO (but not a 5day) earlier in the day. These are considered bellwethers of a certain kind of economic activity. What might this mean, if anything, regarding fourth quarter profits? In conjunction w TLT strength...
