FG, i come here to see what Cobra says and to hear others and their opinions. I do not come here to watch anyone try and convince the forum that their opinions are superior or to have to wade through cryptic posts about what someone is doing. I have noticed that you are only cryptic about what you are about to do while quite clear about what you claim to have done. Why is that?

One might deduce that it is all an illusion. If you really want respect, post your trades clearly and let us judge you on your actual work instead of what you claim do have done after the time has passed.

This was an email exchange with my father who's banked over 100% in PSX. He has a spreadsheet with all the Graham/Buffett type formulas on it to calculate value.

I did "spreadsheet" calculations on what I call the stock "value" (some formula I found using last 12 months earnings and future estimated earnings growth), and the "Graham value" which is based only on book value and last 12 months earnings.

Note that these values for oil companies tend to be larger than those of most other companies I track - perhaps due to the increased risk premium in the oil sector. Anyway, I compared PSX to CVX and used the values relative to the current stock price so the 2 numbers can be compared to each other -- so the higher the better.

Graham values vs. current price (mostly current performance): PSX = 1.26, CVX = 1.41.

"Value" vs current price (future/current performance): PSX = 4.28, CVX = 2.03

The value index for PSX is off the charts compared to every other stock I track except AAPL which is still only 3.69. The average for all the stocks I track is 1.47.
