Opex preview was posted in the next day edges. The opex bollo band study is there - pretty interesting to see what has happened when we did what we did yesterday with respect to the upper bollo.

Just to confuse and annoy, USO (pink, top panel) has been linking and then de-linking with SPY
Nonetheless, I’m assuming that if USO can stay strong, so can SPY.
USO is now faltering a bit (USO lower high vs SPY higher high) but it’s not terminal yet.
SPY is short-term overbought and will soon need to backtest the breakout, but that won’t happen until it happens

This is for Denali - but as it's interesting some other folks might be interested too ...

1.) There is a correlation between the Nikkei and SPX since 1998 - Nikkei tends to break down 10 months earlier. Note this is not scientific - very few samples

2.) Paradigm of the link JPY to Nikkei changed around 2004. Previously weak JPY did not imply a strong Nikkei, after 2004 this changed, since then weak JPY implies a strong Nikkei and vice versa.

I don't know why the paradigm JPY to Nikkei changed in 2004, might have something to do with Japanese economic policy or carry trade

Two days doesn’t make a trend, but keep an eye on this nascent rotation
It’s clear that “they” are selling off the defensives (staples and utilities, dashed lines, top panel) and selling GDX (bottom panel) to buy the aggressive sectors.
This might be important for the bulls IF IT CAN LAST MORE THAN TWO DAYS
(sorry I ran out of space so energy is invisible on the bottom panel)
