Some percentages since election day
As the red lines are at zero/breakeven since election, you can see that any chatter about “all gains erased” is inaccurate

Gideon Rachmann in the FT writes: The Emperor Nero has taken power, who's going to clap as he sets fires and reaches for his fiddle?

For more information on Emperor Nero go to Wikipedia, one excerpt here: Over the course of his reign, Nero often made rulings that pleased the lower class. Nero was criticized as being obsessed with personal popularity ,,,

Does this remind us of some guy in the White House?

Intermediate term is there any reason why this market keeps going up which would make it the most overpriced in history? Why yes, yes there is something different this time, massive intervention by the central banks. So only if they change their policies will the market go down would be the logical conclusion. Microsoft just doubled down on the current paradigm by borrowing billions on up to 40 year maturities. Other sources aren't so sure with articles discussing at what level of rates the Fed should start allowing it's balance sheet to shrink, and questioning how much debt China can survive.

On the more up side the Wall Street Journal is talking about how businesses that go cashless don't loose customers. The steady propaganda campaign that started maybe two years ago is continuing to move forward and it is critical for longer term central bank support of the market. Europe and Japan have shown us that negative rates have only limited success if people and businesses have alternatives so it is clear that program depends totally on banning the US 100 dollar bill. India is showing what happens if you move too soon without doing the necessary ground work.

So I do think the official commentary from the Fed meetings this year are as important as a couple of years ago when they temporarily tanked the market. Insignificant rate raises should be ok as long as they are just optics but if they get serious then Nadella and many others will be exposed for playing the CAT/IBM game after it is over.

I do realize the logical conclusion is that either the heavily indebted shrinking revenue corporations blow up or all cash savings go away the choice is up to the Fed. In either case we are talking a massive extinction event a la 1930's. Or maybe not, time will tell.

SMALLS
SECOND PANEL:
Usually when smalls get a bit over their skis (%Bolinger), we see a pullback.
Pre-election, the “pullbacks” sometimes lasted only a day/couple days.
In November the pullback lasted 5 days before dip buyers took over; December’s pullback lasted only 3 days; ditto early January.
This is day three pullback for the smalls… testing important support

First time today I have seen a 5 minute bar above the ES VWAP so bigger boy selling could be over for today. An hour to go until the last half hour but it could pave the way for turn around Tuesday if those Europeans go green in the early morning hours.
