Someone who sounded knowledgeable wrote the other day that quarterly bonus money was on the table. They said the standard reaction is to buy tech and energy. Well Amazon is sure acting like every corporate data center in the universe will soon close and be using their cloud.

Energy is whistling past the graveyard. US rig count is up but the algo's moved prices up on Wednesday because estimated US production was not up as much as they expected. They don't read the chart of all the DUC (drilled but not Completed) wells in the Permian. Reuters says the Saudis have dropped prices again, in Asia for May delivery on light grades. So that would be the less capable refiners formerly known as the Tea Pots.

Finally why is Glencore selling half their storage around the world ? Is it because they see the curve normalizing or as some are asking, do they see a bigger sucker as in Chinese firms looking for a way to dodge the boot heel of capital controls. Time will tell.

As I said last week it sure looks like things are lining up for that bounce in oil with the media narrative positive. Just don't look over the next hill. The Saudi's are going to have to dig deep into their bank account to keep the country going while they desperately slash production to the lowest believable level (don't want analysts to cry fowl) to salvage an extra 200 billion or so for their IPO. If only Iraq, Venezuela and those US Shale drillers would see the light.
