Update of a study that I did in May that proved accurate for today's conditions.

Just something to be aware of if you are playing the short side....

It is only history...

TF 06-17 (500 Tick) 6_2_2017.jpg
Small Caps getting ready to make a decision, break-out or double top. Half hour until London/Frankfurt close so no help there, as they usually rally into the close but not necessarily when they are at the day's high already.

CL- John Kemp at Reuters has his chart pack updated. The takeaways are:
1. US refineries have significantly increased production to what is by far the highest in history
2. US gasoline supplies have finally gotten back down to last years levels which is still way above the five year average
3. Distillate stocks are below last year but well above the five year average.
4. Crude oil inventories are in the range of last year.

So the OPEC production cuts have succeeded in keeping inventories from making even higher highs due mainly to ever increasing US product exports. What happens next is the normal end of peak demand and refining starts to nose dive. Shale production is not going to decline, either is OPEC at this point, so what happens when the US no longer is setting record levels for refinery throughput? Are the Algo's and Hedge Funds nuanced enough to play the rate of inventory increases or will they continue to act digitally to the weekly inventory estimates. As they say in the movies, buckle up it could get rough.

Small cap pull back matching the mid morning pull back, so will it repeat with a third wave up?
ES stopped for now at the overnight highs.

ES trying to break out but the smalls are ignoring it. I don't watch the other indexes but I am guessing all the bad economic news is good for the DOW as it implies the era of central planning by the Fed will continue for longer than what they were saying a couple of weeks ago.

As the ES plays with the day's high the R2K futures (the smalls) return to the morning trading range. My guess is the bad numbers mean the FANGM etc can keep borrowing at 5,000 year low interest rates so the stock buyback machine continues for another several months. Waiting for the weekend advice to just buy the all time high because it is different this time.
