Looking at last week's volume profile we moved through the easy part this morning and are now bogged down in the heavy sledding. Considering that London/Frankfurt were only good for 3 points today I am thinking "they" will have to wait for Asian traders tomorrow to make a new all time high. If it doesn't hold well you won't need Cobra to tell you what the chart pattern is!

Since Mr. Dudley is a part of the three that run the Fed and his remarks are being interpreted as negative for the market I can hardly wait for the Chair to confirm or deny later this week.

Key sectors hitting highs and lows simultaneously. According to the teachings of Dr. Brett, this often indicates an overall market range day will develop.

Same 15 minute chart showing two full weeks of volume profile. It is very much a Yogi Berra moment and makes me a real doubter if the same low volume run up during the Asian session will actually work this time since they didn't fool the machines last week.

Back when I had an honest job I had to attend a lot of fraud training. One thing that came through is you have to keep the victim's confidence for the fraud to work. Just ask Bernie Madoff. So I am thinking the speeches this week better be good, but if the industry is correct and only 10 percent of trades are done by humans then why do they bother with all the speeches? After all the main thing is end of the quarter cash flow into retirement funds and forced ETF buying.

Most of the sectors I track intraday are in the middle of their daily ranges. This is a seasonally 'bearish' day, but in a strong uptrend. And NYSE up/down volume is staying strongly bullish. And, QQQ and SMH and EWG and JNK just hit another lod.

Mixed market.

Energy- John Kemp at Reuters up with a chart this morning showing hedge funds are at record levels again on bearish net bets on oil, back to last December.
Retail- Holding a mirror under victim's nose
Banking- ECB forcing Italian taxpayers to swallow a very bitter pill for two zombie banks. Waiting for the analysts to figure out how bad it will get if this ripples
Tech- British press saying over half of all online advertising clicks are from click farms. With three of the FANGs dependent on that I think we will never see follow up in the American press
except as 'fake news'
I need a news feed that highlights positive sector news. :D
The only thing I know of is Home Building because of record high prices.

As Maxwell Smart used to say, "Looks like the ol' gap up on the open and then stay flat the rest of the day trick!"
