They will do anything to keep the market up..... but what is interesting is that the Euro has completely recovered the drop on those remarks and is now making new highs for the day.... I guess the Algos in FX are not as strong as the algos in Equities....

Add that to Yellen's comments yesterday on eliminating crisis for "our lifetime" and I am marking my calendar as the date the era of central planning power peaked.

"Following the euro’s biggest daily jump in over a year, in what could be interpreted as verbal intervention, ECB’s Constancio said that market reactions aren’t always understandable and that Draghi didn’t say anything new in regards to recent ECB policy.

Mario Draghi’s speech in Sintra on Tuesday was “totally” in line with recent ECB policy, ECB Vice President Vitor Constancio said in an interview on CNBC"

Carney this morning at the conference where they are still doing Q & A

“When the MPC last met earlier this month, my view was that given the mixed signals on consumer spending and business investment, it was too early to judge with confidence how large and persistent the slowdown in growth would prove,” he said. “Moreover, with domestic inflationary pressures, particularly wages and unit labor costs, still subdued, it was appropriate to leave the policy stance unchanged at that time.”

Any question about where the traders have their focus? Any doubt that we have extreme herding?

Crude- market is focusing on the pull back in US production. I think they have forgotten the news feed of the storm coming ashore. They do shut down the gulf platforms when storms happen.

Everybody is just waiting for a big player to squeeze the hedge funds now that they are short. And of course we have Venezuela to watch.

I am no fan of the Fed but when congress starts talking policy "to help people see their way clear to re-elect us" I just start reciting the very long list of deficits and unfunded mandates. Does anyone really want the folks who manage the Social Security Trust Fund in charge of the money supply?

Overnight markets contributed half the move to today's high with New York providing the second leg. When London/Frankfurt closes in 20 minutes (they who's currencies went up today) I wonder if New York (the weak currency) can stand on it's own.
