Jeff Bezos is like one of those Tokyo real estate tycoons 25 years ago, he can't turn it into cash.

Not saying today, but some day, a sharp selloff during the day panics the salarymen and they sell some ETF's during the afternoon session, then logic tells us it will make an ugly close as the banks reduce the amount of ETF outstanding by the close. So the good stuff would get reduced right along with the bad stuff, in theory. 8-)

AMZN: Someone has their giddy pants on! They bought the July 28, 2017 $1,140/$1,190 Bull Call Spread 1,080 times for $2.50 ($270,000.00 debit).

AMZN only has to rise by ~$100.00 by tomorrow’s close to break even!

Another theory:
“the pattern of aggressive intraday rotations between certain segments of the market that have effectively kept broad equity gauges aloft and volatility suppressed.
“That’s a continuation of the broader trend seen throughout June between the banks, energy, and technology -- a series of nearly-seamless handoffs, especially when the high-flying tech names faced episodic stress.

Bespoke‏ @bespokeinvest
If the 50 smallest companies in the S&P 500 all dropped to zero overnight, the net impact on the S&P 500 would be less than 1.5%.

Let's do it.

Georgia Bruggeman‏ @MeridianFinance

And those 50 "smallest" companies are Large Caps. There are no midcaps or smallcaps in the 500. That's why there is MDY & IJR. No overlap.

not if you use an equal-weighted SP500 ETF as a core holding (RSP) :-) Longer term this ETF easily and significantly outpaces...

We wouldn't even be in a bear market if the smallest 250 dropped to zero overnight. Down only a little over 13%
