WHAT IF studies
I was searching for a symbol to answer the question “How would it look if we equal-weighted or capitalization-weighted the dow, instead of the regular price-weighted dow”?
I couldn’t find a symbol or an answer.
Instead I came across this, which answered a question I didn’t even ask: “How would it look if we equal-weighted ALL the sectors and threw them all into one basket”?
In a “normal” market this wouldn’t be helpful, as when the aggressive sectors are up, the defensives would typically be down.
But in this abnormal “buy everything” market, maybe there’s some value here… I haven’t found it yet…

Friday after the close Interactive Brokers sent this notice to clients:
“In recognition of the special risk of sudden, large increases in market volatility, that is inherent in Volatility Products such as VIX,
Interactive Brokers will put into place greater margin requirements for Volatility Products after expiration processing on Saturday, 19 August
… your margin may increase significantly.”
Other brokerages are expected tofollow, as everyone believes the VIX will eventually “go bananas”.
Please post if/when you get such a notice from your broker

Note that TNA (IWM) just turned down from the R2 pivot on the 1min
That was pretty good resistance for scalpers
