Fib Levels
Adam Grimes, who now has a pay site he pushes when not obsessing over food on twitter, did a large computer study across multiple futures markets to test fib levels. He found them to not be accurate but did find retracements commonly exceeded 50% (not a real fib level) but stopped between 66 and 75% or so. Because of their popularity I personally think it gets into the self fulfilling prophecy category.

I think retracements need to be used with chart knowledge.
A computer study wouldn't include that.

Of course with all computer studies you have to know how the study was set up.
As Al has highlighted you need to decide on what is the top and bottom to compute from.

I use all retracement percentage as possible turn points not "it will' Turn points and use Gann's ratios not fibs
eg. 1/2 or 50% 5/8 or 62.5, etc.
