Anyone have any thoughts on Apple's event?

Twitter comments are mocking Apple for going back to the USB from lightning.

Outside of the event the women who will pick out my nursing home (and their mother) are all mad about the new phone operating system.

Initial thoughts :D

iPad sales volumes and ASP will likely be going up.

VERY impressive new iPad Pro models. The existing iPad product line outsells every other brand of laptop. Non-Apple tablets are a marginal business, not real competition in any important way.

These new iPads now do a bunch of things no laptop can do. AR, display, imaging and graphics power and overall speed are all top shelf.

I currently use iPad Pro 12.9 every day and will be buying the new iPad Pro.

1 Terabyte of storage in an iPad? And can connect to an external 5K display ...wow ...

New MacBook Air also very impressive. Should sell a metric ton, probably more.

Mac Mini update - not sure how much demand there is for 'new purchase, medium-high capability' desktop computing these days. Just do not have handle on it.

So far, both SPX and VIX painting an inside day.
Most interesting is the VIX painting a narrow range day, the narrowest in about a month.
Tomorrow may be a decider for a bounce or a bottom... or a continuation...

The NYMO divergence is continuing setting the table for an up cycle.
I like the way the tone of the Russell 2000 is basing too.

I'm flat at the moment.

USB-C did not exist when Lightning was introduced. This is not 'going back', more that Apple recognizes the USB-C ecosystem has (finally) the potential to be widespread and reasonably interoperable.

USB-C is a very different thing from the old USB 2 and even USB 3.x stuff. My view is that the USB consortium has made many poor choices and mis-steps in connector form factors and functional capabilities over the years. Ever count up how many different USB end connectors there are? Dozens of them, many incompatible with the others. USB 3.0 has continued the weirdness.

USB-C is an attempt to 'streamline' the connector form factor mess, but within USB-C there are several levels of confusion for the unwary. USB-C charging and power delivery is but one aspect of this.

I will point out that Apple put ThunderBolt 3 ports on the new MacBook Air, not just USB-C. Same connector form factor, but more capable port. Intel has been the promugulator of ThunderBolt 3 and it can be found on non-Apple computers.

using 34/89ma
pattern the last few days:
crash, squeeze
crash, squeeze
crash, squeeze

now all lower lows, except for a few green shoots (see green lines)

I cannot believe how ingrained the BTFD is in my "looking" at the charts even though I was not a BTFD type.

I have been a "non-believer" in the up and up and up an up for so many years and here we are in a potential roll over and I still cannot pull a sell trigger. Ten freaking years of subliminal mind programming will not go easily , it seems.

SMALLS
HEIKIN on the daily
Both the short term momentum (sto-7), and the medum term momo (ppo-default) are still on sell signals.
The short term momo (sto-7) has shown a positive divergence for days, but no durable bounce in price yet.
The dojis and long shadows on price signify indecision, and suggest an impending change, but I can’t “guess” bottoms, I have to wait for price to confirm.

Tomorrow is the last day (EOM) to rebalance, for those managed portfolios that are on a monthly-rebalancing schedule.
"…asset managers who rebalance to fixed weights on a monthly schedule are currently the most underweight equities since February 2009."

Soooo...... another source of buying ??

Trump is a flat-out liar but Americans are so dumb (for the large part) they swallow this shit up like it's beer.
