XLB is below the open. Materials are an area to watch, their weakness is a sign of econo-sluggishness.

At some point in time putting the cardiac arrest shock paddles to the economy just isn't going to make a difference. But hey "stimulus" is a great follow on to "cutting car purchase taxes in half". Interesting to me that it now takes actual bureaucrats making statements rather than just jumping the futures. Kinda brings back memories of the Greek debt crisis.

Personal note. We have been to the three Chinese gardens on the west coast (Vancouver, Portland, LA). I can not recommend enough having a cup of tea in the Portland garden should you have the chance. They are just magical places.

Interesting that the market was able to absorb the "$1B to Sell" without really selling off ... shows strength.

There's much "gaming" that goes on now with regard to the ‘pending imbalance’ of buy or sell orders marked market-on-close.

There are now many subscribers to a service which provides a running MIM during the second half of a trading day. (Market Imbalance Meter)

MOC orders can be pulled or changed, up to 15min before market close, or 10min in some cases. So large institutions can place huge buy or sell “orders”, at an inflection point for the day--hoping to pop price above or below an obvious level of support/resistance by influencing those who track the MIM.

It’s a risk free way of exerting a mild influence. They don't have to transact. They can cancel the 'order'. It’s easy to bluff.

It’s analogous to a General Mgr on NFL draft day. Any statement that isn't an actual deal is perhaps merely strategic posturing (aka lying).

MOC/MIM is really only useful, imo, in the final 10 minutes of a session.
