Fiddling with the trend lines I think I am close on the channel. Most days I would expect a channel breakout as we move to the close. But with all the money being pulled out of the market I am not so sure anymore.

My view of things since the last high. The big players could easily move this up above the 50% level with a Monday gap and go. Problem is with all the nervous individual investors getting their money out of the market it has to be much harder than it used to be to pull off.

JNJ. 10 years ago, it had an ROE of 30%. Last year it was just 2.22%. P/E of 235.6. Hmmmm Way, way overpriced, and heading south fast. Ghayzus. Sudden storms.

I don't think PR is going to get them out of this trouble. For such a huge company, there should be some goodwill left, salvageable. Band-Aids anyone?

“…traders have observed ongoing intra- US session asset-allocation trades out of the S&P [ES] and into TY [treasurys], with simultaneous volume spikes / blocks trading in ESH9 (selling) and THY9 (buying) at a number of points throughout the day, but usually after the European close, and toward the end of the trading day.
Includes today’s note from Nomura's Charlie McElligott [genius of the month]
Probably a “must read” for traders

We know from Nomura's boy wonder that the 2 and 20 crowd is either out, neutral or shorting equities. That note at Zerohedge from Lipper this morning was enough to make a trader look for the Depends because that says Ma and Pa Kettle are going to cash. No idea where the buyback crowd is at but wasn't it Pasta Boss who showed the ugly chart on buyback focused ETFs. Anyway the buyback crowd made it clear that the flow isn't enough to counter a serious downdraft. And now Super Mario says he is going to stop adding to his bond collection before he becomes the BoJ. Icing on the cake is with the Dems taking the house you know there will be no better deal on taxes on investments and it is year end. Retirees who have to liquidate a portion of their holdings each year would be foolish not to get their 2019 money out now. If things look better later you can always buy back in but you are talking about people that have already gone through two 50% draw downs in the last 18 years.

Do I have a point? Yes I do it takes buyers to move price up on a consistent basis. The pension money from 401 ks will be the next big buy and that isn't until January, assuming the working stiffs out there don't change their allocations. Other than that, as the song goes "Who will Buy?"

Coolbiz wants us to know that a close under SPX 2610 will be the lowest weekly close in 2018. (does that make a difference?) :?

Interesting article. Also, shows that there are all types of investors. I went to my old pension fund's quarterly public meeting this past Monday and they are currently selling fixed income and buying stocks. According to their models stocks have become under weight relative to fixed income. They will continue doing this as the market goes down and eventually it will turn. They figure they are long term investors.....

All time frames matter. Which matter the most depends on what is going on.

Yearly charts are scaring people, among other things.

Yearly, quarterly, month, weekly charts can all provide information.
