Do you think the market may be in one now, or in the process of forming one?

I was doing some reading about it, and from what I could understand, it seemed to suggest an explanation as to why your "prediction" that the August lows would be broken lower, and that it might take a few months to express that . . . I thought that was very interesting to compare.

If you have any thoughts on that, it would be appreciated. thx.
never heard that.

Have you heard of Tim Wood? He talks about left and right translated trading cycles in his work. He is known as the cyclesman. cyclesman.net. You have to subscribe but I believe he has recently added some free stuff.

He posts articles on safehaven.com from time to time and is an expert on Dow Theory.

Look 99er,
All I posted was this article from Marketwatch;
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — A bill that would have added a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution failed in the House on Friday, in a fresh example of the pre-election partisan divide over fiscal issues in Congress.
I don't know what is your problem.

No it is cycles theory.
Left and right translated in cycle theory is just a method to explain why the cycle did not do what one thought it was going to do.
If Right Translated, it is slower than thought. Left T is faster.
EDIT: Oops, got those backwards.

Left or right translations to cycles isn't dow theory but more a of general cycle theory wherein the peak of an established cycle range occurs either earlier or later than the mid point time frame within a cycle. Left translations portend falls and a bear market whereas right translations are signs of a strong bull market.

The SPX showed a very left translated cycle back in May this year after years of right translated cycles from the march 2009 low.

That was the first sign that the bull market was over. Gary T was great at pointing his out in his blog and made a great post about back then.

Then, that was reinforced by the 10/80 weekly SMA crossover which is what I use to gauge between bull and bear markets.

List of confirmation indicators goes on.

BTW, out of my TVIX calls yesterday at a 50% take home. Sitting in cash as of last night, awaiting for the next entry on our way down.

The notion of left- and right-translated cycles was introduced by J. M. Hurst in 1970, in his book “The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing” …worth reading…
