02/01/2012 Intraday Watering

Post by Cobra »

Gap up but within yesterday's high, so not sure whether the gap will be filled or not as if we simply repeat yesterday (that the gap gets filled again), that'd be too boring, got to be a little different today.

I see 2 legged up on Global ES already, while the down leg from Jan 26 to Jan 30 was just one legged, so 1 vs 2, therefore not necessarily a bullish pattern. Just it's very hard to time when and where the current rebound ends, so guess we'll have to wait and see. I guess should be more up here though because the patter for the last 5 bars looks like a consolidation, therefore more likely to continue up.

GM
Analysts surmise this morn that China’s PMI numbers imply soft landing rather than hard landing...

Good Morn All,

I am watching GLD to see if the phantom bar does predict a lower high. Thanks to All for the great charts and insightful comments! GLTA jimme

Cougar: I just got a reminder that a while back you mentioned GLD had a cycle turn date on 2/3. Do you remember this? If so, what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Paging Jarbo:

I found the following at Bloomberg showing the implied stock price moves for companies reporting results based on existing options data for the day. Looks like this is a daily report from what I can tell.
This report is what made me think I should play MTW as a strangle but I didn't make the plunge......my bad. Stock is up 9%+ in pre-market trading and the Bloomberg report shows it has an average move of around 9% during earnings.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-3 ... sults.html

It shows that in today's earnings GMCR and JDSU may be the best plays for earnings today into tomorrow.

Treasurys sell off (TLT gap) as investors pile into stocks

Folks, u can’t make this stuff up:
“The Treasury Department is exploring the idea of issuing two new types of securities as a way of expanding the government's means of financing operations. One of the securities would offer a floating interest rate …. THE OTHER WOULD ALLOW FOR SECURITIES TO BE AUCTIONED WITH NEGATIVE YIELDS, WHICH ESSENTIALLY ALLOWS INVESTORS TO PAY THE GOVERNMENT FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF BUYING THOSE SECURITIES…”

I don't see anything immediately bad now. Yesterday's black bar was bad, but seems no problem at all if DAX can close right here. Drop before close then it's another story.
