I follow the solar flares, since they are proven to cause more volatility in the markets short term, mostly to the downside, so when solar activity is picking up, the market usually is in a correctional phase. I would continue to watch as the sunspot that recently erupted turns more towards earth with a possible X scale direct hit and its effects on earth. During last August we were bombarded with solar flares and there were more sunspots then at that time. I believe the sunspot number is suppose to peak sometime in 2013.3DM wrote:for the astrophysical types, is this of significance...
Giant solar storm headed for Earth could disrupt power grid, air travel
The largest solar flare in five years is racing toward Earth, threatening to unleash a torrent of charged particles that could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.
The sun erupted Tuesday evening, and the effects should start smacking Earth around 7 a.m. EST Thursday, according to forecasters at the federal government's Space Weather Prediction Center. They say the flare is growing as it speeds outward from the sun.
The solar storm is likely to last through Friday morning, but the region that erupted can still send more blasts toward Earth, Mr. Kunches said. He said another set of active sunspots is ready to aim at Earth right after this.

Nice chart, thanks. Watch 1354 resistance on /ES.TraderGirl wrote:There is a megaphone pattern on SPX...
From Pivot 5, the pattern is either fall to lower-trendline or breakout and become a Continuation pattern of prior trend. The failure of 5-6 leg usually occurs at the mid Channel level.
Hmmm....very interesting.3DM wrote:for the astrophysical types, is this of significance...

Would a full moon signal a turn in the market, so the trend has been up for awhile, so now it should correct more here for a little bit?snakehead wrote:I am re-posting this, because I signed up rather late in the afternoon yesterday:
Hi all.
New to the board. Here is what my 'crackpot' plan is for the immediate future.
I have been experimenting with the idea of astrological trading (i know iknow ... )
I am planning to get back into the market (I sold last Thursday at the Quarter Moon) this Thursday
which is the Full Moon. Then I plan to sell on the close of the 22nd (right before the new moon).
Then I plan to be super-cautious and possibly stay out of the market for the rest of the year (as Jupiter
leaves its Taurus position), getting back in sometime around August of 2014. (However, if I see really good
technicals next month, like a good breakout over Dow 13,000, I may get back in for a couple more months ...)
Feel free to laugh and poke fun at me !!
BTW, congrats to all who predicted the big bounce today, especially TraderGirl, who, I noticed, pointed out the huge p-bars on SPY after hours yesterday!
I still hold my view that the last hurrah will take place between the full moon this Thursday and the next new moon two weeks later. (Of course PPT will try their best to keep the market propped up -- especially, if, as I suspect [not to mix in politiccs but] TPTB want O for another term.)
I have been following this board for a while and I have to confess that I was one of those bears who got badly burned in October. Nice to be on board finally.

It is usually bullish right AFTER a full moon.BigChief wrote:Would a full moon signal a turn in the market, so the trend has been up for awhile, so now it should correct more here for a little bit?snakehead wrote:I am re-posting this, because I signed up rather late in the afternoon yesterday:

Thanks, what astro site would you recommend following, if you have one?snakehead wrote:It is usually bullish right AFTER a full moon.BigChief wrote:Would a full moon signal a turn in the market, so the trend has been up for awhile, so now it should correct more here for a little bit?snakehead wrote:I am re-posting this, because I signed up rather late in the afternoon yesterday:

So I am thinking that this is where we are going to get that big breakout (but short-lived) over 'Dow 13,000' to trick as many folks back into the market (who were reluctant to get in over the past couple of years). Then major tankage at some point in late March or early April.
