last time SPY closed above BB was 11/4/10

Today or tomorrow, we should get a post FOMC / Opex top - I know that sounds CRAZY given the price action, but it is what the historical record predicts....

It is most likely a minor top - which means a pullback like January of 25 to 30 pts from the high.... THOUGH there have been a FEW instances of more significant post FOMC / opex week tops - though not recently as there are only two meetings a year - Mar and Dec where the FOMC can fall during opex week - the last SIGNIFICANT post FOMC / Opex top was Dec 2008 70 pts in 10 days - I doubt that will happen this time, but it is something to be aware of....

Anyway, for now the market is surprising everyone by not following the usual March opex / daylight savings tendencies and I will admit that the market in 2012 has not really followed the historical pattern, so this time could be different, but all in all it is best to at least be aware of the historical patterns.

Right now, we really seem to be replicating March 2010 where we topped on the Wednesday and declined in to the Monday open.....

Of course, maybe this time is different.....

i think VIX would finally close blow BB bottom for real as it's really strange for a huge up day while VIX is green.

Cobra,
Can you please explain why / how we have today the "jumping" of .VIX at 1:49 PM; 2:30 PM; 3:25 PM; 3:42 PM? Normally there are gradual, even strong movement, but not "jumping"...
Correct? Thanks!

Look carefully...and start drawing them. I've looked at 18 months of 5 minute charts (as the algos have grown since then and the public fled) and this is what they absolutely have as their main trading points from my inspection. And they love to break the lines and bring it back inside of 10 minutes. That's the best signal of all.

Addendum: NYC had it's 5 Crime Families http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Familiesthat each carved out turf to work together. I think there are six "banks" and 4-5 more companies deemed to be in the HFT club. They have learned to work together...It doesn't take a crime scene expert to understand that they are working together as a cabal. If you want to call me crazy, please have the courtesy to show me where I am wrong.
