The wheels are coming off... why oh why didn't I short??????Al_Dente wrote:L_T wrote:AAPL: did everyone just return their iphones?
Don't quite understand the question. Fib time cycles and ellipses are not the same - unless we focus on the 50% Fib. Think of the ellipses as a channel with a center line, but it works in two demensions: not only the y-axis of the channel, but the x-axis (the time axis) too...toddymc wrote:Thanks Uempel are those fib time series ellipses/ovals?uempel wrote:Looking closely at support:
SPY Chart for fractal comparison of sorts (to my put chart)..
i sell chunks on the way up usually missing the last bit of the move, and then i buy chunks at lower prices around areas where i think there will be a potential reversal. it may not be the most efficient way of "trading", but it's a kind of trend following system.Al_Dente wrote:jarbo: what makes u buy at lower lows?jarbo456 wrote:i added to AAPL at 615.
i'm adding to AAPL at 580.
per my risk protocol, i'm able to add a final leg at 540.
below 540 i'll be cutting the position.
are you looking at fundamentals or purely technical?
just curious
glad to c a buyer in aapl

That is not a bad system at all. Iwas taught many years ago that this IS the best system.jarbo456 wrote:i sell chunks on the way up usually missing the last bit of the move, and then i buy chunks at lower prices around areas where i think there will be a potential reversal. it may not be the most efficient way of "trading", but it's a kind of trend following system.Al_Dente wrote:jarbo: what makes u buy at lower lows?jarbo456 wrote:i added to AAPL at 615.

these are just positions around a core aapl position that was started a long time ago.
my first position is right a minor percentage of the time, but it's also usually only 1/3rd or at most 1/2 of what i want to commit to the whole position anyway.
if this sounds like a bad system, i'm happy to hear the criticism. it's now how i trade my entire portfolio, as i don't like to make it a habit of buying weak stocks; but for aapl it's worked for me in the past.
