01/19/2013 Weekend Update

Post by Cobra »

Algo from stocktiming. It's overbought, consider the Martin Luther King week bearish seasonality (http://www.cobrasmarketview.com/martin- ... g-jr-week/), so maybe a small pullback next week. But generally a negative divergence is needed for Algo before a meaningful top is possible, so chances are the small pullback next week would be bought, there'll be a new high later.

I believe VIX collapsed today, cannot prove it though, but certainly those who bet VIX up were capitulated. Just look at the UVXY volume today.

Yes, VXX/UVXY volume surged, might mean VIX bulls capitulation. How above SPX then?

I don't see volume surged enough on SPX today especially it's OE day, so volume should be surging. The price volume pattern shown in chart below however, is interesting, which I'll show more detailed back test in the members only report this weekend.

P.S. I don't mean top, the previous case happened to be a top, it's just a coincidence. The price volume pattern does have certain chances to mean top though.

Cobra, the money flow looks really confusing today. ChiOsc shows as oversold. While the rest overbought. Any say on this? Thanks.

A degapped ES Equity RTH bounced off of the bull trend line from 1/10 on a 4th touch yesterday at a prior support level. :P

Forget about Monday flow, especially ChiOsc which is more a momentum indicator. So momentum is low doesn't mean the price won't rise, no to mention ChiOsc only means the money flow momentum is low, not price momentum is low.

This is for Harapa :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek: he'll add some info later on. It's about VIX behaviour when these long term ellipses on the weekly get either touched or are pierced by price - as happened last week :D

Bespoke has great fresh stuff on earnings season
Scroll down to see next week’s earnings data (with % beats)
http://www.bespokeinvest.com/

IBM (11% of the dow) reports on 1/22. They have a 78% “beat rate” on eps (earnings per share) and a 56% “beat rate” on revenue.
Chart resistance is the 200sma black-dotted line, where it has stopped twice in the last two months. Support is obvious at the succession of higher lows.
Also, lots of dow stocks report next week; it should be an “earnings driven” week.

In recent gold silver COT report, smart money is hedging more. What does that imply?

My satisfaction always came from beating the market, solving the puzzle. The money was the reward, but it was not the main reason I loved the market (Jess Livermore)

Thanks, regret that you are missing the train? it wouldn't surprise me at all that it will hit your target  some times the best looking entry turns out to be the most unprofitable one. I don't know what to talk bout this week, seems like we cover all possible corner of the market already short or long term. anyone want second opinion on anything? I'll check back in tomorrow.

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Sunday entertainment. very few comments this weekend Hmmmm.

lets talk GLD and SLV, lots of over head resistances but chart pattern are bullish also for GLD and SLV. a break out over 50 DMA will be very encouraging for the long term swing.
