3rd test of ema20 from under, the previous 2 crossed over, so the 3rd time might be different, let's see.

Absolutely. Excellent points! (*In the complete post, above is abridgment).

I was just listening to Bloomberg radio, an interview w the portfolio manager for the Texas Tech endowment. He indicated that 55% of this (COLLEGE!!) portfolio is in "alternative assets". 10% hard assets and their derivatives, 15% one trading strategy which is "non-correlated with stocks and bonds", and 30% another non-correlated strategy (which sounded like a kind of entrepreneurial 'loan-sharking', from the way he described it).

And this is a supposedly "staid, bland" college endowment fund.

So yes, any kind of thinking outside the box is highly prized these days.

Courtesy Charlie Bilello, director of research at Pension Partners, who noted that with the exception of Russia, “every country ETF in the world is positive in 2017 with an average return of 19%.” Russia, based on the iShares MSCI Russia Capped ETF "ERUS" is down 8.6% over the same period.

Meanwhile, GLD has quietly staged a powerful move from the 115 level touched a week ago.

At 117.50ish, it does not have that far to go before it erases the early July Fed day huge gap down. GDXJ is supportive of addl gold gains, as it continues to hold a >1% gain today.

+++++++++++++++++++

Also of note: unless some decent volatility kicks in at the close, many major ETFs will close today w daily NR7 bars. As these (often) are associated with a sudden kick up in volatility shortly thereafter, we may be experiencing a Big Move warning...

Is there any inverse correlation between gold and crypto currencies? Only solid correlation I have read about is that the Yen and gold are supposed to be tightly correlated.

Into the close, NYSE up/down vol remains mildly bullish, Naz mildly bearish.

Advancers, on both, are average... and around the upper third of their daily range.

A mid-July kind of day.

10 minute warning, tighten your set belts, it's earnings time !
Old advice on a beat was to buy the first pullback. Don't know how that works with all the bots out there now. :o

Confirmation of something Al D posted a week or two ago-- FDN is indeed the ETF w the highest percentage by market cap of the five FAANG companies.

Even more than the new AdvisorShares ETF known as FAANG and now trading (for a few days) under the symbol FNG. This new one has only 25% FAANG stocks. FDN has about 35%.

The Bloomberg guys were having fun w it. "There's only 25% faang in FAANG" they chortled. Comparisons were made to orange juice drink vs. orange juice concentrate. Beware investing just on a name, was their main point.

Q2 net streaming additions 5.2 million, Exp. 3.27 million
Q2 domestic net streaming additions 1.07 million, exp. 633K
Q2 international net streaming additions 4.14 million, exp. 2.63 million

That is all that counts.

This, just like with Tesla, is a who cares.
