And those 50 "smallest" companies are Large Caps. There are no midcaps or smallcaps in the 500. That's why there is MDY & IJR. No overlap.

not if you use an equal-weighted SP500 ETF as a core holding (RSP)

We wouldn't even be in a bear market if the smallest 250 dropped to zero overnight. Down only a little over 13%
