Cobra posted an interesting comment near the close yesterday:

“The pattern nowadays is down in the morning then up and up till close. today is very special which i haven't seen for millions of years.”

Today the Russell 2000 is below the open; and so far 15min highs are holding in many sectors-- let us see if this pattern repeats itself, today, as we enter the seasonally weak portion of October.

SLV suddenly above its 50day sma? I must have blinked. Wasn't it just crashing to a new 20day low?

SPY range today has been btw its upper Bollyband and its (upslope) 5day sma. High and low within a nickel of each.

QQQ showing relative weakness, gap fill and brief probe of yest. low

IWM is right in the middle of its trading band of the past few days, so far has not really gone anywhere in October--but, it STILL has not touched its 15min 200ema since late Sept! That MA is usually criss-crossed frequently, even in up or down trends. It's a very short term target...

The same is true btw for QQQ and SPY.. but it's less noteworthy for them, since they have not been in an extended sideways range.

bears made a little progress than yesterday by 2nd leg down earlier. don't think it'd be 100% mm though but let's see.

Shortly after the market open, Dow Jones blasted a story that "in a surprise to everyone who is alive" Google was buying Apple for $9 billion. It said that Google CEO Larry Page had "secret talks with the now-deceased Steve Jobs in 2010 to firm up the deal" which was announced when Jobs' will was read in Cupertino. As a result, each Google shareholder would get 9 shares of Apple stocks, and the report added that "obviously Google will move into Apple's fancy headquarters. Google employees said, "Yay."
