I've been paying attention to FCX. I mishandled the sell point; got out with minimal gains.
The chart below compares FCX to IWM. The formula is IWM price * 60 / FCX price. The time is 5/28/10 to present. High numbers in the chart mean that FCX Is weak relative to IWM (Russels).

Image

As you can see to the far right, the numbers turned south, meaning the FCX got stronger these past few days.

BREAK

Regarding the thesis that the bottom is in, evidence is in the chart below comparing Germany to Brazil.

Image

The formula is EWZ price * 32 / EWG price. The time is 3/4/10 to present. High numbers mean EWG (Germany) is weak, relative to EWZ (Brazil). On the far right, the peak (Germany is weakest) occurred on 9/9/11. Falling numbers mean Germany has been getting stronger, relative to Brazil.

The caveat is FCX & Germany can always lose their strength & world markets can continue to dump. I'm keeping an eye on RSX (Russia) & HAO (China small-cap); they haven't gotten stronger. Image
Interesting, "Petsamo"! Yes, FCX got stronger. But, in general terms, it is still weak. Right now, it has to break out above the next fan line, where it was stopped Friday. If the move looks strong, I might buy a small position and then I would watch if it can cross above the 37.8 zone.

Yes 99er! MORE CHARTS!
I will post my technical views on some “individual stocks“ now, since this would not interfere with anybody’s active trading. This summer’s bearish mode of the market acted as a filter which selected some “strong-high-beta-stocks” - as opposed to the rest of the crowd. To simplify the results of this process, I shall use only one criterion for such stocks: they made an all time HIGH after June 1st 2011.
----------------------
I selected only stocks which are not “largely held”… which means not actively pumped by the talking heads of CNBS.
No fundamentals and no advice for anyone…
I will post them slowly, today…

For people who count Elliott waves, there are strong stocks which recently completed a Wave 5 up, like REGN:

…or some other stocks, that completed W3 during the early summer, had a long corrective W4 during the subsequent market drop and now might go back up, on a putative W5...But waves 5 are known to be frequently “truncated", so that a new HIGH might not be achieved soon. PPO is one of them:

For LGND, that had in Sep 2011 a highest price since the trough of Mar 2009, the 2 Fans display worked surprisingly well:

A special place should be given to MELA, which did not make a new high. However, its recent performance, in view of new company perspectives, is quite remarkable. This longer term trade was quite successful, so far…

Now…a very different kind of stock…a badly beaten one, that will be in the news soon, since it will report earnings this week starting “the season”: AA….
I was very surprised to hear that some very savvy guys that I know have bought it ahead of earnings…I did not and I won’t do it…
My view is that if, after Tuesday, it makes an impulsive move up and breaks through the resistance levels marked on the chart below. …maybe…
Alternatively, if the earnings are wishy-washy , and it makes a “double bottom”... then, one might consider it for a trade.

And finally, before I take off for the rest of the day, an update of my “SPX geometry” daily chart, with 2 Gann Fans. One can notice how nicely the price stopped on Friday at the 2x1 time/price line, of the recent Fan.
Waiting impatiently (and hedged) for tomorrow’s move!

Have a nice day everyone and thank you again Cobra for creating this wonderful and stimulating Blog Site!

That's a big change. "52x" and "52" are not same. like "3x ETF" and "3 ETF" are different.
