The Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO) is an indicator designed to remove trend from price and make it easier to identify cycles. DPO does not extend to the last date because it is based on a displaced moving average. However, alignment with the most recent is not an issue because DPO is not a momentum oscillator. Instead, DPO is used to identify cycles highs/lows and estimate cycle length.
Can you add some explanation to this? As a trend follower I watch price for signs of the trend. If it removes the trend what am I seeing here? Am I missing something obvious?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_market_cycles
Gappy, I was grateful to LT for asking cuz I had same ?. So, by your DPO chart, that low intraday valley today means exactly what as we can now expect higher lows or how does that work?
For KeiZai and Champix - and whoever else trades DAX: I'm not yet sure if this correction is the real thing or not (I tend to be bullishly biased on DAX), if it's not the "real thing" May 2007 shows a possible scenario (highly hypothetical )
