GS’s weekend note was interesting as they warned that the "VIX Is Unusually Low" and they saw “VIX calls as good value” [implying market down]…
BUT they suggested to wait until Tuesday’s close when the VXX shuts down for good (GS says the VXX ETN still has $700mm of AUM –assets under management - which will be cashed out at NAV at Tuesday’s close). This is a big deal, and GS said to expect some weirdness in the VIX space Tuesday, especially near the close.

JPM noted that this week “…will not only be the heaviest in terms of number of S&P500 companies reporting Q4 earnings, it will also see the peak of the current buyback blackout window. … in the week of Jan 29, roughly 60% of all companies will be prohibited from repurchasing their stock, a potential downside risk should a negative catalyst emerge [like the China trade deal/no deal].

Don't forget that the Pension funds had a good month in stocks so the smart guys are warning that many have exceeded their thresholds and will be forced to re-balance by month end. Poor Larry Kudlow may as well have a permanent podium in front of the White House!
