Check this chart out of a stock I posted..said it was in "bubble territory" back in January...was I f'ing right on that one.....
I am totally with you. I felt sad too. THis could have been such a classic pattern and safe swing short at parabolic top. I didn't know it's ER today, otherwise I would have bought short. Sigh.

Actually that was a 3 for 2 stock split that your chart isn't accounting for.......
Thanks LT...keep me in my place... Still down another 7% today....
Actually I like the idea of you angrily banging away at the keyboard and mumbling to yourself about being provoked......throwing in random booyahs where appropriate......
Thanks for making me laugh today... I think I'm done...
one target met. now revisit the day low so key time, I'll see bulls have 50% chances.

Anyone else get the feeling that Mr. TraderGirl doesn't provoke TraderGirl very much? I wouldn't.

Might find support here, but I doubt it.

StudentBill,
EW on XIV does not make sense to me.XIV ETN is 2 year old and I don't know how you could label from 2011 up to now. The start point $9.35 in 2011 and up to $19.35 and drop below starting point to $4.88.
Rule of EW Wave 2 can NOT be below start of wave 1. It could retrace up 78% but not below wave 1.
I agree and I think most standard TA might not work long term on XIV since it is driven by rolling futures. I don't really know much of EW, don't really like it, but I am starting to look at smaller moves in wave like structures as impulive or corrective. Just trying stuff out. I do think tradergirl had an actual EW wave count that was similar though if I remember her chart correctly.
that would be me-thank you for remembering would just like to add
I thought so but wasn't sure.
as far as what to do--i exited a long after the spike this morning--then went long puts at hits of the 15 min 20 ema--was trading qqq and bailed them on spikes down. Trend wise the ideal trade was the first breakdown. if trading spx the idea being we would "try the daily 20 ema" which was actually what i was trading off of (the one feature). as for the future if we see spx hold around the 10 ema weekly (can go under but closes there more or less) then it gets more intersesting.
I like the idea of every candle being either range bars or trend bars and nothing else mattering.

I'll toot you on this one— clearly I jumped shipped too early, but I did trade it and it was YOU who brought that shite to my attention
I thanked you then and I'm thanking you now. THANK YOU TRADER GIRL
Now imagine that, some complete stranger, whom you've never met, just up and pays your mortgage for you. I fucking LOVE the internet sometimes, and this board even more.

Also the trading journal idea is a good one.
journal and ideally as much as possible excel also since patterns will jump out at you--for example--i tend to enter right on time--and leave early--this was really obvious on my first 200 trades or so. because i tracked the trade prior during and after i took and left positions. so just looking at the excel sheet made it obvious right off. and along with the other info on excel--started to suggest solutions. mostly the idea that if things are strong--hold on--if things are sketchy leave.
