Wall Street Journal NOT HILLSENRATH
WASHINGTON—Federal Reserve officials left short-term interest rates unchanged Wednesday and signaled no hurry to raise them in the weeks ahead, citing a mixed economic backdrop and lingering concerns about low inflation and global economic and financial developments.
The Fed’s policy statement, released after a two-day meeting, left uncertain whether the central bank will move its benchmark federal-funds rate up from its present range between 0.25% and 0.50% when officials next meet June 14-15.
Wednesday’s statement pointed to an economy that was performing well in some respects but that continued to struggle in others.
“Labor market conditions have improved further even as growth in economic activity appears to have slowed,” the statement said.
Officials noted household spending has slowed even though real income has risen and consumer sentiment remains high.
Awesome.
Whenever we see days where news is going to really move the markets, I wait until right before the announcement and enter my trades. I put in a short and a long and also put in orders to close both positions that aren't far from the current price. Using modest targets, I place large orders. In the last few years, only once did I have one side close with a loss and it was mostly offset by the other side.
After some Sturm und Drang the DX Dollar contract is right back where it started and my chop indicator is yellow (Chop mode) once again. Starting to look like a nothing.
I have no idea where the market is going but usually the FOMC day close weak (relative to the day, not saying big red).
