Al, I'll post a chart later on (we are going to the movies...), but BPNYA doesn't look good...

Al, if we contemplate what BPNYA actually is: the statement makes sense. The moves of BPNYA are a momentum indicator for the entire market. And if the momentum of the entire market is in a downtrend we've got to bury our bullish dreams, at least temporarily :D

Hi AL,
…I haven't posted any VIXies update this week as I am without power, phone, and internet since Monday night (due to Hurricane Sandy). Other than this nuisance storm didn't inflict any other damage to me personally but many houses in the town were severely damaged by the falling trees.
I am sending this note from my local library which managed to gain power and is able to offer limited internet (15 min per person)
Hope to be back once my utlities are restored.
Thanks…
Harapa
Poor Harapa. :(

Thanx uemp
my only problem with BPNYA is that the NYSE data contains nothing otc, so it misses aapl, amzn, goog, bidu etc
if it included nasdaq it would look even more bearish…….
so I always have to keep an eye on BPCOMPQ and BPNDX etc

Updated- Did some updates for my elder Calculations. For Spy we are Blue now. For Spy tomorrow ,if we close above 145.52 we will be green, and if we close below 142.61, we will be red.

Good luck to Harpa, been there.

Any currency peeps have thoughts on the Yen topping?

From UBS Technical Newsletter: With last week’s break of 79, the pair has completed an important tactical trading bottom and is on track with our next target at 80.50 to 81.50. The key message is that the current USDJPY strength reflects broad-based JPY weakness and if we look at the JPY index and the relevant cycles we can see how far reaching a major trend reversal in the USDJPY could be.

ClarkW - Really nice chart on GDX. One must try to remember or be vigilant that the miners do not always sync with the silver/gold futures...I know y'all here are super vigilant. All these beautiful charts are very important symptoms. Symptom of a good thing. :geek:  Yeah, been watching the USD as gold slipped down. I was looking for a put when I noticed that calls were + 2X numbers as of puts. Dont' have TOS up @ moment to post but the Chaiken $Flow has downward divergence while price Friday made, finally, higher high and breakout on $dollar. Hmmm.
DayTradingES - A big Hug for you. I am so sorry for your loss. May the Comforter come to you.

Al, NDX might be skewed because aapl has too much weight, but BPNDX is not skewed and the charts show us how important Friday's close at 59 is. Check out the chart showing the 2000 scenario and compare it with 2012...

Looking back at 2000

Today's BPNDX is at the critical 59 level
