I believe a ? 45 day cycle? comes on 1/21 fwiw,

failed breakout, let's see if it can break the range low which if indeed then tinted area would be the bear target.

paging Dr AL: or any vix mathemeticians: any idea why vix is down XIV is down, VXX is up...seems odd to reverse contango at new market highs today...

Not sure. The contracts are up today while the underlying is down, which may be part of it, but contango did widen, which should be good for XIV.

XIV is often the canary
It’s warming up but not singing yet on the 60min (VIX and RVX and VXN inverted here)
edit: I don't like it that XIV did not make a new high today
