A truly scary doldrums was what happened back in Sept. Slow grinding gains, in boring fashion, deeper and deeper into ATH overbought... amidst a low VIX and general complacency. That, JFR, genuinely scared the bejeezus outta me!

Enough. I will stand by my choice of word, doldrums. I even looked it up before I posted it, since some stuff gets challenged on here by nitpickers. Ha ha
Taking a break. Going upstairs to watch a bit of news. And that can be scary.

USO is continuing its recent tendency to be strong in the pre-market and then sell down during the day.
It's currently nearer the HOD than the LOD, but it's well off premarket highs.

Am eyeballing this despicable weakness in GLD. With UUP down a dime, silver strong, and the gold miners galloping, gold should be up more than .2%!

Yesterday was a promise to cut tariffs on US cars (who in China buys a made in USA car?) and today the Chinese bought soybeans. Will wait for tomorrow's surprise announcement.
Bears still in pretty good shape but they are far from out of danger as that Santa Rally which the Almanac says is the last 5 days of the year. They recommend looking for stocks that hit their lows on the triple witch a week from Friday.
