Movement at the end of the day had nothing to do with technicals, 100% to do with false rumors.
3pm: Guardian article about 2T bailout virtually agreed upon.
3:15: Merkel aid says no comment.
3:20-25: Source says amount not nearly 2T.
3:50: Source says rumors completely false.

I don't see ANY reason today (short of fabricated news) that this price wouldn't hold.
Too bad I sold my TNA this morning but a profit is a profit.
It looks like the price spike came from fabricated news.

Bullish engulfing candlestick on SPY, as far as my not too strong candlesticking skills detect.

I can see that bonds did not confirm this move higher. The short bond ETFs like TBT made lower highs today compared with last week. Euro also.

I surmised over and over about everyone expecting AAPL to beat earnings and there it is.
This might top the rally even with INTC and YHOO beating their estimates.

$NYMO posted negative divergence today.

If you want a reliable top signal, there you have it, with all the speculative drama.

I couldn't agree with you more!! So glad others are thinking same thing. I have been b**ing to my husband about this! Total, total manipulation is what I told him. Three months of "in-your-face" manipulation in the market. Where the Sam-hill is the SEC??!

There is clear negative divergence building between SPX and the McClellan Oscillator. See attachment.
