Agree TG. I would be cautious on initiating positions on either of those. Worried that ramped up in fear of Obama getting re-elected and now it's a "sell the news" situation. Also I would think they will both have difficult comps to overcome next year with all the hype and fear this year. Just my two cents
Now, when I have a big position, I cover my butt with put options... It was a down grade that got meTraderGirl wrote:I've been wacked like that as well....not fun...TraderJoe wrote:I owned a TON of SWHC in 2008 when it dropped from $10 to $6 in less than a week...I'll never forget that trade..TraderGirl wrote:Petsamo wrote:Hey ClarkW & the rest of ya'll,
Here are a couple of stocks that Obama has been good to: [url=http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/rgr/charts?
Be careful with those...
My portfolio has very minimal individual stock exposure. CLF was intended as a bounce scalp.
EWZ divided by CLF indicated that CLF was very beat up and I was expecting a bounce. It didn't work out.L_T wrote:Do you have an indicator or pattern you rely on for looking for the bounce?Petsamo wrote:I wasn't looking at dividend yield, I was looking for a bounce.
Trading strategy and trading a strategy are two different animals. VIXies setup is a trading strategy. As we all have different reasons to trade in certain way (you just mentioned time, but there may be many other) you have to decide how you want to use it. But before you commit a penny to it my advice to you is to understand the strategy and then paper trade some time to get the feel of it (this is what Rusrod is doing at the moment). This will help you understand the limitations of the strategy. Preserving capital is more important than making profits in trading.billrider321 wrote: Harapa,
I am going through trading signals for finding your discussion. Question Can this be traded solely based on hourly signal I am busy at work and can't monitor 5 min chart that well. Once I setup the hourly chart I can monitor stockcharts hourly and decide. If I understand you correctly you wait till hourly is bullish and then go long.
Too wanky for me boss……..i like the super clean (easy) domes/inverted domesClarkW wrote:Do not own but does this meet your dome idea, Dr. Al?

Yes, it can be used in any time frame, you may need to adjust your expectations. For hourly as a rule signal is only triggered at the completion of the bar, but this doesn't mean you can't trade intrabar, especially if you can conclude that signal will be sustained till the completion of the bar. To see what difference it will make to your trading profits you will need to test it first (thus paper trading) though!

Sorry late, Harapa...computer difficulties...Harapa wrote:PAGING RUSROD
If we close at this position of VIXies do you think risk of gap down is higher (give a number if possible) than gap up or it is vice versa?
