Anybody use PayPal for purchases and transactions?

I got hacked and had a number of bogus transactions charged.

They are cooperating, refunding, and my bank is involved.

But it is scary. Identity and all that.

I bought some chess books through a Russian website, over the years. Uh oh. It is their site I suspect.

I don't use paypal, but my credit card used to have a service that would generate a throwaway number and name with a spending limit and time limit on it, so that could be used for online purchases without allowing further purchases, and if something went wrong you'd know which site leaked the info. They removed it a few years ago when they updated their system and didn't want to pay to reimplement the feature, but there's got to be other ways to do something similar now. They should really make that kind of identity protection an industry standard. These problems have been happening all the time, and often involve the merchant's website getting hacked.

From yesterday's comments ...

I am going to explore getting still another credit card, but with a very low limit, like $100, for PayPal. Ha ha. Use it. Pay it. Use it. For little transactions. PayPal has been good to me. It has given a layer of protection for some purchases, but this time it seems to have gotten hacked and deceived.

In this particular situation, thousands of dollars were rung up in a few days. Lucky I caught them almost right away, and got on the phone.

I added the Fib levels for the white sub minuette much earlier today. If wave 4 is an ABC bouncing off the multi day POC would be a good move.

I marked this up after the opening swing, so that is more or less a guess at the ABC that happened to work out. However, if Non Farm payrolls ruins the bull party and today proves to be a durable top the count is there. Several higher time frame waves are ready for a pullback from these levels or somewhat higher.

Glad I am just a fast chart scalper!
