market is slow and my shorts are burned, so going to take a moment to ask if anyone here uses portfolio analysis/optimization programs or software for themselves?

if not, do you calculate some of the optimization formulas yourself or do you totally ignore doing any of this?

this is more for the long term accounts and IRA's.

although i can do a lot of the calculations myself, there are a ton of models and software packages out there that do it for me. a lot of it is SaaS based...

anyone have a review for macroaxis.com?

ever place volatility ratio side by side with its index? this could be leading holy grail that you looking for.
I wouldn't mind to see a sample of it  , this is for those who doesn't have the data or the provider to do this (i know u can do this in stockcharts, but in amibroker i don't know how). Thx!

NASDAQ took it from 20% to 12% in April 2011. It's now back up to 17-18%. Can't step in front of the train until it derails!

I have a friend who is older now, but was a managing director at Morgan years ago. It was nice to be a WSJ writer back then. He once told me he was glad the Mafia existed as white collar crime has always been pandemic in the industry and the authorities were busy with them. And although the statute of limitations are long past I am remiss to post any head-spinning specifics. But having worked on Wall Street I know that first and foremost, it is a criminal enterprise. Most people just don't get that fact and many refuse to accept it. I think a lot of permabears are waking up to it.

The first thing I thought of when the article mentioned the younger traders was Hitler taking the minds of the youth and how a Catholic Bishop recently stated that Adolph and Benito couldn't ask for a better totalitarian education for our children than the public school system in America that brainwashes them into trusting the state for everything.

I think you'll enjoy Solzhenitsyn's 1978 address to Harvard graduates as he foretold how immoral we would become: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/augustine/ar ... d1978.html

The comment on "Legalistic Life" are for the ages. In America, as long a a judge says you didn't technically violate a law, or had a way around the law, you are innocent of a crime is why we have a culture of crime now. And those newly arrived GS employees will further that.

Only 2-3% at a time shouldn't be so bad.

I still think today is going to be quiet and range bound on the equities. It will be interesting to see if the VIX can get any traction. Better short odds tomorrow.
