Long or short or neither?

Personally, I prefer to short ETFs and futures, rather than stocks. Some stocks are dogs, losing money, and poor value. You short, but find out when it keeps going up, that it is the target of takeover action. I got caught in that back around 1998, with many unsound new internet stocks flying around. So I find it ''safer'' to short an ETF or future --> bigger boats, more predictable pattern, less subject to "hidden" action.

As a momentum trader I could not go long on CVNA; its chart is the opposite of what I look for in a long. It does not have good value, with P/E at -0.69. Short? No, as stated I prefer ETFs and futures for that.
However, I would have to say that CVNA might continue to be a good shorting candidate for some traders. Strong trend down. Losing money (net income) year after year since 2013. Its revenue has been good, however. And the heavy volume since November might indicate some bottoming action.

Just in my opinion, on CVNA.

Dow 30.

Advantage bulls. And there is BA, frequent leader/laggard at the top.

The dow is up 225 points at the moment [update up 200p... ooops now up 190p]
I expected VIX to be down more as traders buy/chase calls
That's not happening yet ... it's changing quickly: as I type they're buying more puts...

This bear market is about a year in already. it should bottom in March like most in the past. It's been too long in the tooth things start to get iffy. patience patience ....

Testing day high, QQQ made a breakout already so maybe SPY will make a breakout as well?

Note the recent IPOs (brown) jumped up today, as did the 100 highest-beta stocks (black).
Semis are best (gray) partly because of the new AZ semiconductor factory and AAPL said they'd buy their chips there.
The worst is the 25 largest banks (red) who are "RISK OFF" because banks like higher rates, and at the moment rates are moving lower

Semi condutors company in Arizona? needs lots of water to build fab, Arizona is known for lack of water, this got me to Hmmm another Media stunt?, MU new fab will be in Syracuse, N.Y. the Arizona talks is when they need to move the foundry from Taiwan, if Xi made up his mind when to visit Taiwan.

They've been investing heavily in water recycling to deal with that. Once the infrastructure and technology are there, all the companies can make use of it to cut costs. Meanwhile, the area is seismically stable, ideal for solar power, already has semiconductor employees and academics in the region, and the state government is giving them benefits.

When Pelosi visit Taiwan, you know something is up. Semi-Conductors chips can not be in Xi's control. connect the dots.
