My satisfaction always came from beating the market, solving the puzzle. The money was the reward, but it was not the main reason I loved the market (Jess Livermore)

Did we learn anything from 2007-2008 ?
1) The real carnage happened below the daily 200sma (200sma daily = 50sma weekly)
2) The flight into the “safety” of treasurys happened early… in mid 2007 (pink line)
63wkndlookback.png
Here is the current SPY weekly back to the 2009 bottom.
1) Today SPY is sitting right on top of her 200sma. SPY broke her 200sma twice since 2009, during the corrections of 2010 and 2011.
2) Both instances were accompanied by a flight to safety (pink lines), but today’s flight to treasurys looks a bit more extreme…

Bounce or no bounce? that is the question. First lets look at what is, Fib extensions here.

and here what to look for: if we have any rebound on Monday (This is IF side of thing) I hope the rebound is meaningful enough to turn all these indicators up. Then....the bears better lock in them gain before it evaporate in hot summer air. Bulls or the bottom shoppers can now jump in with some assurance.

Both ES and Long Bond have stressed their bollinger bands.
Hat tip to Mr. TopStep for charts.

BB Bubba is full of it ...Don’t even tell me you’ll buy a bounce here, if it even materializes.
Oh, perhaps u forgot to read Cobra’s subscription page today.
I try to wait until the last minute on Sundays to read Cobra, as delaying it reinforces my illusion that I have a mind of my own…..

Also, Al Dente rant ONLY TO NEWBIES:
Plese don’t mention Cobra’s specific subscription comments here on this free board, as it is not fair to Cobra.
Please use DISQUS on his subscription board to comment and ask questions.
End of rant.

ps: did u vote for cobra today?

Zoom in on the 2010 and 2011 corrections, just to remind us how SPY loves to bounce and bounce and test and retest and etc…

Guru-twitters are either quiet or “philosophical” today. Most of them were caught long Indices (SPX 1,300 = support that had worked?!) and short gold and miners (US$ up => gold must go down ?!).
Ha-ha!
On Friday late, after adding AAPL (long) and being killed intra-day on 2 or 3 rounds, they got on some strictly directional positions to keep over the weekend (long GLD and short SPY )and now they are scared!

Hopefully, Schopenhauer will help them!

However…3 previous signals suggested a gold RAMPO:

[1] a broad but well supported short cycle GLD trough:

[2] an early BUY PALL, frequently preceding the moves of GLD, as many times discussed here

[3] an early BUY GOLD - a smart “knowledgeable miner” often preceding $GLD moves

As expected, GLD suddenly turned green and bullish on %R System and on Rel. Stoch:

After sever unsuccessful attempts, GLD finally gapped above the midline of our “technical” Regression Channel, but still has 2 major resistance levels above it.
[One might also notice the Fibonacci time vibrations with a next pivot around this Jul 25]
This chart is only moderately bullish.

Argument of this chart: GLD on Friday was not “out of control”.
===============

And finally...what I did: After selling at open all residual puts and expanding longs into the top of the parabola, sold in the “incision” most of them and stayed with a small “seed bias long” over weekend.

A few words on $SPX:
I only rarely post MAS 50, 100, 150 or 200 because they are masterfully used by da boyz as fake fingerposts to mislead... However, $SPX MAS(200) = 1284.53 while $SPX closed at 1278.04...which is good to know, since it already happened.

I am considering further longer term swings, based on a dominant SHORTING ARM, for synthetic options positions. However, to be vigilant, I’ll always keep an eye on the bernanc and one on “das merkel“.

[1] Support levels for $SPX, of which I like ~1209 (12.20.11 Fan Retest & BUY Operation Twist)

[2] Symmetry: accelerations of TWIST and down slopes of untwisting suggest some lower levels. AB=CD ~1209...AGAIN!
[On this chart, I removed all previously marked harmonic levels of support, which fianlly gave up...]

Well…I took some beating on some of my stocks long positions…but not too much…because:

“All my X-s live in Texas
And my stocks have doggy collars”

...since they are all demanding and “high beta”…

Tomorrow will be a fun day! I shall watch the Friday opening gaps!

EDIT: TraderGirl any turn dates 4 coming week? on wednesday the ECB meets to set interest rates (rumors: -25bps) and on thursday Bernanke testifies to Congress
This week Monday or Tuesday we could find a bottom, then the other turn is on Friday. So this goes along with your dates above.

Gold/Silver has a turn on the 6th, there is positive energy into the next turn for Gold/silver around June 26th, which is around the time of the Uranus/Pluto square...

Also interesting is that the Dollar has a turn date of June 4th and also possibly 8/9th, so that is when the dollar could begin to turn down....it too does not have another turn until around June 26th...

We could start to see the market have some positive energy into the 26th, but it should be highly volatile...
