Since 2005, when Alcoa shares have risen after the company releases earnings, the S&P 500 has averaged a 1.9% gain over the next month of trading, and a 3.2% gain over a three-month timeframe, according to Schaeffer’s Investment Research.

Conversely, when Alcoa’s stock price drops after earnings, the S&P 500 has averaged a 0.6% decline in one month and a 0.09% drop over the next three months, Schaeffer’s data show.

Such trends, of course, need to be taken with a healthy dose of salt. Alcoa isn’t a company that, by itself, fundamentally drives the market one way or another.

The spread between the January VX contract and VIX seems too wide at the moment.
Expiration (at which point the spread goes to 0) is next Wednesday's open.

In the next few days either VIX takes a jump or the contract continues to slide or both.

BachNut, I agree with everything you write. My guess is that we can stay slightly bullish or neutral for the next 5 trading days

Light long.
I tried to add a trading unit in yesterday's dip but was too stubborn on price. Could be an oops here.

My trend signal is still long.
My summation index signal needs an up close today or it is at risk of flipping down.

On Monday, I daydreamed about Mr. Market teasing bears into short positions and then squeezing to new highs late in the week (WFC earnings Friday).
It seems the first part of the dream may have played out. If Friday's highs get taken out, the second part could come true too.
The bulls should want to mount a charge on the SPX 1500 threshold.

I still don't like my long position. The rising $, the index against bollingers and the increasingly cheap VIX don't align well with continued bull progress.
While there is upside from here, the risk return ratio doesn't seem attractive to me.

I think it means he was saying the debt is not sustainable. Not able to find exact quote yet.

I had turn dates this week of Monday, Weds and the next one is Friday...

Monday pointed down, Weds points up, and Friday I am assuming will point down...that coincides with a turn date that I have of the 10th...

VIX is saying the risk here it to the downside...almost touched bottom trendline this morning...

No they are either insolvent after fiscal cliff crap or they are shorting it entry price is good in worst case I will close it flat
