so far this kind of pullback doesn't look like a bear attack.

that's really strange, the liquidity inflow suddenly spiked since Wednesday. Don't know what's going on, someone knows something really good ahead of us. Just because I saw the liquidity wasn't strong enough, so I was so sure the top could be around. Now all of sudden everything changed. :o
Bet on QE3?
I don't know.
It aligns very well with the sell-off in treasuries (and also $) over the last three days. Funds may be sloshing from one market to another.

Thanks, that goes well with DBV > 24 market have a hard time to pull back at these level.

Not sure how interested this group is in this gap analysis. I have finished my work for as much as I wanted to know.

My conclusions are as follows
Market has an edge of gapping up as opposed to gapping down 54% vs 46%
The gap up % is almost identical to the gap down % 0.46% vs -0.49%
Gap sizes are double in the last 100 days compared to the 3000 prveious days.
There have been more gaps down of >1% then gaps up.
The frequency of 1% gaps either way has dramatically increased over the last 250 trading days compared to the 3000 trading days database.
Bears have gone 40 days without a gap down greater than 1% during which bulls have had 7 gaps up greater than 1% (longest streak out there)
During 2005/2006 the market had 351 consecutive trading days without a gap greater than 1% either way.
Cobra has been on the right side of overnight gaps 88% of the time. :D

I like to look at TLT also. TLT it's going to fall off a cliff, that should be good to equity normally.

How much of this recent gap frequency is due to overnight EU news? I guess until things settle out there we can expect even more gap activity. Now that our markets are more sensitive to international econ news this may be the new norm. Makes me think the rest of the world had to deal with frequent gaps for decades when the US market dominated.

Hi Al Dente,
I was still in the neighborhood, but I really hate this kind of markets : Santa Rally, Gaps up, no corrections...
So I did not trade a lot in december and from the beginning of the year.
I am looking at this market and waiting for the reasonability to come back.
And when wee see the beginning of 2011, that could last 3/4 months...pfffffffffff

Attention dip buyers i.e., every single person on this board. I am a little cautious about buying the dip quite yet. Don't pull your hair out Al, but we rolled over on the MACD hourly chart while many divergences remain in tact. I think we could see 1300 first.
