I don't know if SPX moves of 0.5 percent can be called big waves. I'm frustrated with a range of 29 handles over a period of nearly 3 weeks. I mean this is just awful. Denali urges me to have a closer at the small- and mid-cap indices and I guess he's right. But I fell in love with FDAX 3 years ago and I don't want to be unfaithful

OIL STOCKS
Only 4.6% of XLE oil stocks (top panel, lime green, as of end-of-day-friday) are above their 20ma (and more broke down today)
Oversold short term
But last time it stayed for WEEKS in the oversold zone (green boxes), and bottom-fishing was not profitable
A case can be made for “trend followers” to wait until the % turns and rises above 20%ish as a signal to long (short term and EOD, does not address intraday moves).
