The negation of the bearish Gartley Butterfly would be confirmed by a breakout above the ellipse.
AAPL update: the experimental ellipse acquired an arrow down. It seems that now it might have 5 points of contact/reversal. As a beginner with this technique, I am quite impressed…

15 min chart shows a signal in the afternoon. SPX' action until then? I have no idea. Breakout to the upside in order to pull in bears? Or vice versa? My guess is a sideways move and then a liftoff. But it's a mere guess...

Using ellipses for predicting potential time/price points of breakout or reversal.
In this case, it does not mean that “the cat is in the bag” and that AAPL will now go “ impulsively” down. But the fact that a potential resistance point was “predicted” by the ellipse is good enough.
At a resistance point, most of the times, the price stops and lingers...trying to decide. Such a point is not punctuating a “Bang-Bang!” action.

What does this pattern signify. I have seen many here talk about it, but I really don't understand what it means.

Thanks !!!

Butterflies or grasshoppers, if you blindly jump in you're gonna get hurt with VIX. That is until the gap at 18 is closed.

A little strange,
FAZ has been bottomed and moves this morning. It's green.
But TZA and ERY are red still. TZA seems at its bottom now.

TZA with a gap up and then moves lower so far. FAZ with a gap down and moves higher.

I closed out SPY short...looks like a move to 128 is upon us. Likely grinding our way higher in the channel and based on the track record of closing at the high of day didn't want to turn a profit into a loss.
