Windows 95 sounds pretty good to me right now. Windows 10 ran fine for a week. Overnight update failed and scrambled parts of the registry K.O. ing my trading program, Ninja Trader. Tech help finally gave up as none of their tools work with 10 yet. Luckily you have 30 days to automatically go backward. So far so good, but now it thinks I'm a guest on my own computer and all my stuff opens in read only mode!

Software updates = Wait for others to be guinea pigs first...then you update if it's well tested and documented...taking a big risk if it affects trading programs/compatibility issues..etc

I had everything working fine with Windows XP - then a virus - then new laptop with Windows 7.
Runs slower even though more memory and ram
Locked Windows7 so no updates - only the virus protection (Microsoft Security Essentials)
nothing else ever gets updated unless a gun it to my head!

- made the mistake of putting on LG phone to PC software and have lost memory (even though I have done a restore to prior to installation) - argh!!

I locked my win7 updates and bought a new HD for 10. will not be using it any time soon.

I do not like the overnight gap up risk here for ES and TSLA.

Microsoft heavily tested software run fine for a week. It was a middle of the night update that ruined it. If you go to 10 make sure you turn off automatic updates! Also a bunch of the nity grity stuff is not displayed unless you search for it, like the command to return to previous operating system.

The problem with windows is the IBM-style hardware is a hodge podge of stuff from different companies, so updates scramble its brains pretty easily. With Apple, the computer is built by apple. That means less compatibility quirks.
