NYSE Arca has suspended trading in eight symbols for the balance of the trading day because of a technical issue, including Amazon.com and both classes of Alphabet Inc shares, according to an alert from the exchange.
The alert stated that all orders have been canceled back to customers and a spokeswoman for the exchange confirmed it was not an April Fool's Day prank.
“Beginning on February 29, 2016, NYSE and NYSE MKT will reject any order larger than 1 million shares that is marketable on arrival. NYSE and NYSE MKT will continue to accept orders up to 99,000,000 shares into the Broker systems and orders up to 25,000,000 shares sent electronically to the book provided those orders are non-marketable orders or orders designated for manual execution, such as Market on Close and Limit on Close. Orders up to 1 million shares will remain eligible for automatic execution on both exchanges.” Not an April Fools prank
Confirmed by a good source (Nanex, who says it starts Monday April 4) https://www.nyse.com/publicdocs/nyse/ma ... shares.pdf
