I have a question for the board members.

Do you really believe that we are on low inflation currently?

here are some of the points I would like to make on my argument against low inflation.

1) Higher USD has already increased prices across the board for most of the commodities for the rest of the world.
2) In Canada, everything is expensive homes, gas, food, cloths, cars you name it because of USD
3) except USA, lower USD in practice lower the inflation for other countries.
4) Buying Gold at this price with current USD/CAD rate in other currency earn no fruits when USD goes down and Gold goes up.

Sorry for random points but bottom line, inflation is higher for rest of the world. Low USD will actually help other countries to ease some inflation.

Agree that everthing is expensive in Canada, (and in all attractive cities throughout the world), but the rate of inflation is low and does seem low. So it seems to me ...

depends on each individual measurement stick I think, If young couple with 2 kids, both hold a job can afford housing, good food, and transportation to go places. Life is good.

If the Fed manages to push the US-Dollar further down (to levels seen in 2007 - 2011) the equity markets will rally like crazy - and so might inflation

not going to happen unless there is a new round of QE by Fed. And Fed is not going to QE again for now. meanwhile, a rising Yen and Euro is going to dampen the efforts of BOJ and ECB. if Yellen really cares about them (it seems), then she shouldn't hold too long either. Yellen is on hot seat here.

the correlation of USDEUR has been positive over last two years, especially 2015 Jun-Dec episode. It should not be surprising as Fed's QE has ended and signal tightening in on the table.

so far market behaves as if there is a new round of QE or there is no more tightening. I have doubt on this. it is possible that these are the effect of ECB and BOJ but european and japanese market has been down and their currencies strengthen. so I doubt that too. the market seems misaligned for some asset class, so we have to see whether it is equity or something else.
