Yes, this is what I'm talking about. XIV is clearly rising while SPX is making lower lows and highs.

The only other clear example of that I found in May 2011.

I guess I will keep the swing shorts a bit longer. Initially, I planned to cover at the opening panic selling, but that didn't materialize. No Black Monday this year I guess.

I understand that about VIX. But why that makes XIV divergent to VIX and SPX?

BTW, record VIX contangos coincided with market tops, not surprisingly, and vice versa with backwardation.

Makes sense. I would like a market top here!...but will go wherever I'm led.
