They all take turns outperforming one another. No specific reason

Apple down 15 pts, so that is why Nas is down...small caps (Russell) are considered "risk", so they usually lag in a rally....then sometimes outperform towards the end of a rally....

I will guess the answer to your question, the market is very mixed and confused at this time and the big boys are only worrying about month end window dressing.

I wouldn't read much into today's action.

Personally I don't look at "why's" why x is up or why y is down.
Usually the whys are news backfitted to price action.
The where is it going to be in 15, 20 minutes (2 days, 2 weeks depending on your trading time frame is IMO a more relevant question).

Unless your are spread trading the indexes.

I agree with what you have to say, but tradersf has a relevant question....we had a rally this morning, but without the support of NDX or Apple, the rally's have been fading...
