01/26/2013 Weekend Update

Post by Cobra »

Begin with Algo from stocktiming.

It's overbought, no doubt, also Institutional selling shown on the bottom picks up a little bit, it's a minor bearish factor though.

The conclusion is we may see a small pullback or side way the next week, but in order for a meaningful pullback, a negative divergence is needed, so far none, so unbelievably this bull still has legs.

AAII and II are a little over optimistic but I don't think they're extreme enough yet. Also on a quick glance, over optimistic AAII doesn't seem to mean a top.

2,300 or so stocks trade on the New York Stock Exchange. The combined value of those shares: about $20.1 trillion.

“...from its bland headquarters 750 miles from Wall Street [in suburban Atlanta], Mr. Sprecher’s young company, IntercontinentalExchange, will run the largest stock exchange in the nation and the world....
ICE... did not even exist 13 years ago. It has no cavernous trading floor, no gilded halls, no sweaty brokers braying for money on the financial markets.
What it has is technology.”

Good Morning,
I was looking at some of the stocks on $R2K index and weeding out. I came across CBOU. Gapped from $12 to $16 and no activity on 1/25. CBOU filed for delisting. I feel sorry for stockholders.

$SPY Winning Streak Will End

Yesterday’s fractional gain kept the S&P 500’s winning streak alive and well at seven days. Should the S&P hold its gains today through the close, it will be just the 64th time since 1950 that the S&P 500 has booked gains on eight consecutive days. The last time this occurred was in November 2004 when the VIX was similarly low like now. In the following chart the average S&P 500 performance the 30 trading days before and 60 trading days after all 63 previous streaks of eight days or longer have been plotted. As you can see, the demise of previous streaks was not at all terrible.

Pure speculation: Gold priced in Swiss Franc ($GOLD:$XSF) DAILY might be forming right shoulder of H&S. Peter Brandt http://peterlbrandt.com/ has mentioned in the past he likes to monitor gold using this ratio, feels it tends to project golds future better than the commodity alone. Also, to my dome experts, is this a poorly constructed dome? Hell if I know :?
Just for fun

hanks nasta, looks like covering shorts after 5 trading days is the optimum average but with FOMC Wed @ 14:15 anything can happen. :o

Your chart Y axis ratio is not linear. Your 100% measurement sounds weird to me. Check again.

Guys someone have access to credit swiss fear barometer chart and can post it? I heard it´s much better to track than VIX chart nowadays (maybe because of vix instruments became very popular in last year/two ? )

Anyways I found this article with link to this forum so someone here likely have experience with this barometer

My satisfaction always came from beating the market, solving the puzzle. The money was the reward, but it was not the main reason I loved the market (Jess Livermore)

You mean AAPL? Right, I just don't want to redraw the chart, so 100% target is not accurate.
