I always save even if it is a trusted source. Mainly because some software (game trials) I will install on the second HD. I have set up Firefox to drop all downloads onto my Desktop.

Once you have installed CCleaner, if you want the further settings I use, let me know.

On Cleaner and Registry, check EVERYTHING. Do a Registry clean every few days.

On Tools>>Startup, delete everything except CCleaner. The exception (for me) is the Firefox/Mozilla tab where I leave all the add-ons alone.

On Tools>>System Restore, you can delete all except the first two.

On Options>>Settings, check only the first one and pick normal deletion.

On Options>>Advanced, check only Close Program after cleaning. This means that you have to periodically update it yourself.

In fact, I recommend that all system settings are set up that THERE IS NO AUTO UPDATE. That shit slows down the computer.
