You’ll have to ask the King of the P-Bars: Mr.Miyagi-sansurrogate wrote:Can someone tell me what a p bar is?
We see these come up mainly on SPY IWM QQQ and DIA as well as some stocks like AAPL IBM and others.surrogate wrote:Can someone tell me what a p bar is?
Mr Miyagi, do you ever take trades based on them or do you just use them as a reference?MrMiyagi wrote:We see these come up mainly on SPY IWM QQQ and DIA as well as some stocks like AAPL IBM and others.surrogate wrote:Can someone tell me what a p bar is?
Although we don't know the exact source, we have debated this a million times before, commonly we believe they are the HFT trading machines slipping up and "showing"their hand, so to speak.
Usually these price tags get hit within 10 days and the stock or ETF's price will then rest or turn around from the targets they point to.
Don't use any of these pbars as analysis!! They are somewhat predicative but have zero timeline; they can happen the same day, next day or never. I'd say they are about 70% accurate, as in they get hit that often.
How can I see a p bar on my chart? Are they actual executed trades, or just a bid/ask flash of a large amount of shares?MrMiyagi wrote:We see these come up mainly on SPY IWM QQQ and DIA as well as some stocks like AAPL IBM and others.surrogate wrote:Can someone tell me what a p bar is?

So to get to your target, Trader Girl, is it the same pattern as yesterday, open gap up then sell off remainder of the day?TraderGirl wrote:p-bars don't always get exact hits...sometimes under sometimes over...
