If you liked the up action this morning New York Feds Dudley speaks at 10:30 tomorrow with a Q&A afterwards. We will have to see how far he walks the Fed minutes back. You know he will, and you know the algos will pounce on the headlines.

Hello Gang,

I have a question on real estate market in Toronto and GTA..Is it a good time to buy are there any juice left in real estate prices for couple of years? I am feeling nervous that if I buy home now, I will be holding beg for a long time.

Have no knowledge of Toronto market. Have seen that both Manhattan and Palo Alto are cooling. In US for major markets they have a real estate futures market so that you can hedge. Professors Case and Shilling helped to set it up.

CMHC released forecast for the GTA...more upside in resale prices in 2017...but again the factor is assuming a tight market with lack of supply...
everything can change if everyone starts selling...

I can take on correction of about $ 150k if any correction happens..ofcourse assuming that interest rate going to stay lower for next few years.

Over $1 million CAD the CMHC minimum downpayment is larger for mortgage insurance, which is partly why there are lots of smaller properties clustered just under and around that mark.

Beyond $1mm the mortgage portion that is 'principle' is supposed to be larger (20% or more). This is supposed to stabilize the market and reduce risk of default during a downturn.

We shall see.
